Malawi News and Prayers
September 30, 2007
Dear Family and Friends
We hope this note finds you all doing well! We also hope this note finds you!!!:) Last month there were several who wrote to say they never received an August/September newsletter. We are so sorry for that. We don't know what happens with our server sometimes. We have several praises and prayer requests to share with you this month. We are so thankful for your prayers for us even when you don't hear from us!!!
Well Project
Rejoice with the people of Malinyete as they have clean water for the first time from a bore hole drilled in their village. This well was paid for by gifts given in memorial of the husband of one of our Hatcher Memorial Baptist women volunteers. Previously the women of the village had walked almost 2 miles one way to get water from an open water hole also used by cattle and other animals. Please be in prayer for this new church that they would share about new life in Christ as they share this water with others in their village and other neighbors.
Women's Meeting
The women had a great meeting together the beginning of September. Michelle taught on selfishness and the fruit of the Spirit. Please pray that the women believers here will hunger and thirst for God. Pray that they will really desire to grow in their relationship with the Lord and allow the Lord to use them as His witnesses.
Mzimba Association Meeting and Bible School Graduation On October 24-27 we will be having an Mzimba Baptist Association Meeting.
On the 27th, 9 Bible school students will graduate from the 2 year Mzimba Bible School program. This is a huge answer to prayer. These men have been coming to Mzimba 3 times a year, 2 weeks each time, for 2 years. Please pray for these students that the Lord will encourage and challenge them in their walk with Him and their service to Him. Pray that the Lord will bring revival in the hearts of believers and leaders here in Mzimba.
Team Meeting
Please pray for our final team meeting with our national brothers on October 24. We will be discussing what God has done this year and plans for future work among the Tumbuka people. Pray that we might have a clear vision and direction for future ministry. Pray that we would continue to work closely together that the good news of salvation would be heard by every Tumbuka person in Malawi and Zambia. Pray that the Lord would call missionaries to serve in available positions we have in Mzimba, Malawi and Lundazi, Zambia.
Family
We are busy with many household things. Michelle will finish up homeschooling Samuel, for now, in about a week-and-a-half. She will be going to South Africa for a homeschool conference for a week. Please pray for Gary and the children while she is away and pray the Lord will bless Michelle and the other women missionaries as they meet together.
Please pray for us as we are sorting, packing, and doing many, many tasks in preparation for our stateside assignment. Pray that we will have wisdom in each of these tasks. For those of you who may not have received our last update, we leave for stateside assignment on November 15 and arrive in the states on November 17. We will be in Richmond, VA for about 10 days and then be in Jefferson City, MO from December 1, 2007 - April 30, 2008 and in Richmond, Virginia from May 1 - September 30, 2008. We will send our contact information in our next newsletter. We look forward to seeing you soon.
